Principles

These principles is what all my sites will have within them to create a better, more connected, and enjoyably liveable and visiting prime location

With reasoning for all sites and how each one will benefit the area as a whole rather then just the site

Sustainability

Sustainability has become such a more important factor in developments, especially since Covid-19 everyone is focusing on outdoor spaces, growing more natural foods closer to home, and mixed used spaces, such as offices being transformed into other uses

In the Green Corridor there is a vast amount of vegetation, with floating gardens which support the local businesses, green walkways separating form the big city
Public Realm's cafes and restaurants are primarily supported from their food growth of the floating gardens
The Historic site will have the modern addition with community activity, promoting social growth and expansion

Inclusive Community

Inclusive community does not mean inclusive towards the new community that is built from the development, its the connection between both new and old, local and surrounding communities

With the silent bubbles in the Green Corridor, someone who wants their own privacy, or to escape form the noise of the airport and city, or becoming a meeting space for people to chat, study, connect, even strangers sharing will bring the community together better
The Public Realm will bring local and start up businesses closer, helping one another in growing their ideas and companies, with the help of low rent and larger companies giving advice and experience
The Historic area also helps connect people with the past, both new and old communities with the markets and café areas

Accessibility

Accessibility is a top priority when it comes to making a better place for opportunities, as all should be given these chances. Which is why many specific designs have been made with precautions put in place for people will all differences

The Green Corridor is all one surface with materials that don't have gaps or may damage over time to help walking aids and blind sticks being used, with varied materials for a more sensual experience
The Public Realm already had flat pavements and ideal materials for the ground to keep easy access, with evenly lined trees and vegetation to help navigate along the street, varied seating options for different abilities, and shop entrances being large open doors so no steps will occur
Historic site buildings will be connected through the modern one for easier navigation, and small ropes trailing alongside the walls for the visually impaired

Place Identity

When the docklands were in traditional use it used to have a strong community identity, however over time with the closing of the docklands, and multiple failed development sites have caused it to be a barren land. Which is why creating a new identity will be a fresh start, by integrating the old history of the site with surrounding communities for a multi-mixed identity

Green Corridor will help connect the blue and green networks in the area, which having both in London is extremely rare, while proving how living so close to an airport can be done with tranquillity through the silent bubbles
The Public Realm will show how small and large business cant work together and help each other within the same area, by not becoming overpowering with large cooperate companies
Mainly within the History site will the identity thrive through its museum and showing off the listed buildings in a magnificent light

Local Opportunities

This overall site will provide such a vast amount of opportunities, attracting in many people for permanent resident, as well as visitors and workers commuting

The Green Corridor provides more social opportunities, with multiple spaces for interactions, with the silent bubbles, history seats and green walkway allows more communication to be had with people not usually interacted with
The Public Realm will provide the most opportunities job wise, with small business given cheaper rent in the first phase to help grow, as well as larger companies providing internships and summer programmes available for all, especially for the students close by
The Historic site provides many job opportunities with the café and gardening shop primarily focusing for the younger generations and teaching them about work and payments, as well as the community building side with volunteers helping run the facilities

Heritage & Vibrancy

History is something heavily engraved into this site from its strong past, however over time this has been lost through the City Airport construction, and lack of community aspects, this development will help bring that back to life, adding a new style of vibrancy to help

The Green Corridor will hold many original artifacts from the original docklands, with history seats which play sounds of how the docks originally used to sound, and fact boards spread around for different parts of the site, with its vibrant colours of the vegetation, of which will help emphasise the area
The Public Realm will hold mainly the vibrancy side, helping boost the areas perspective, with netted lights trailing along separating it from the rest of the high-rises
With the Historic site providing most of the history through its listed buildings, and museum highlighting the past, with a vibrant twist of a modern building attached to the two
